and wellbeing in mind with safe walking
and cycling routes planned throughout
Adamstown. At least 14% of the total
area will comprise of public open space
with the majority of the open space
located in four parks.
In 2007 Maplewood jointly commissioned a
landscape design competition for the 2 major
parks in the development; Tandy’s Lane Park
and Airlie Park.
This international competition was run by the
Irish Landscape Institute and it attracted a
high number of international entries including
companies from Europe and the USA.
The winning scheme, was designed by Foley
and Salles, a talented Irish and French landscape
architect duo.
The new parks will include features such
as football pitches, tennis courts, all weather
playing pitches, permanent changing
and shower facilities, education zones and
children’s playgrounds.
